How do you use Technology?

At White House Academy, we approach technology in education with a balanced perspective. While some schools heavily integrate computers into their curriculum, we have chosen a different path based on our beliefs and values.

 

Research has shown that excessive computer use at a young age can have negative effects on attention spans, creativity, and physical activity. Therefore, we have opted to minimize computer usage during school hours to create a more interactive and human-centered learning environment.

We recognize the value of technology and its role in the modern world. Older students at White House Academy use computers for specific tasks such as typing assignments and accessing digital literature. We also offer skills classes that include typing to prepare students for practical use of technology in the future.

While some argue that early exposure to technology is essential for developing digital skills, we believe in prioritizing foundational learning during the crucial developmental years. We take inspiration from executives at Silicon Valley companies who deliberately limit technology use in their children's education and at home.
